Morning pick up from your hotel in Cairo by privet modern vehicle, for your full day excursion to Wadi El-Natrun the actual birthplace for Christian monasticism. Basically, there were about 50 monasteries; only 4 still survived into modern times and more than 5,000 monks, some of them speak countless foreign languages. The monastic day begins at 4 AM, when the monks gather in the church to pray and chant. At 6 AM the work day begins: on the fruit and vegetable farm until 4 PM {in winter} or 6 PM {in summer}, with a break at 1 PM to eat in the refectory, after that the monks are free to pray on their own until morning. Visit to Deir al-Baramus which is the oldest of the surviving 4 monasteries, then to Deir Anba Bishoi whose body is still in the monastery, then proceed to Deir Abu Maqar for Lunch, it is the richest monastery in Wadi El-Natrun and has more than 100 monks and 600 workers in the extensive farm which spreads in front of it. Continue your trip to Deir El-Suryani which is the smallest and most compact of the 4 monasteries, Thereafter return to Cairo.
